I used to not think on this kind of thing too much, then I had to drive around someone in a wheelchair van for a year and now I wish only the worst for her; I hope her coffee is bland and tasteless and burns her tongue, I wish her fashionable clothes get eaten by ill tempered moths, I hope that she is only allowed to drive terrible vehicles and...oh...

This wan’t trying to talk to her. This guy was trying to shame her. He probably pissed her off before he said a word by holding his phone out to record her. I have sometimes had luck talking rationally and respectfully with people and gotten an good outcome, sometimes an apology. Just as often I have received a poor reaction. Those came from the people who knew they were being douchey and felt enough guilt that they didn’t like having a mirror held up to see themselves.

I think he was trying to be a dick from the start, which is not the tack I advocate. However, since the lady turned out to be such a bitch, I feel justified getting a chuckle out of it.

The folks I usually can get somewhere with are the ones who maybe parked in the cross-hatched space next to the spot or something and don’t realize that blocks the spot as sure as parking in it. They apologize when I explain the situation. The ones who are teens or 20-something and blatantly park in a spot are usually the ones who ignore or flip me off no matter how I approach them. I still try and hope to be pleasantly surprised.
